What’s the Matter

On April 28th, 2019, pro golfer Lexi Thompson (@lexi), announced she is taking a break from social media. Explained in her final Instagram post Sunday, and by Golf Channel Digital, she expressed: “I’m too involved with it, and to read some of the hurtful things being said to me lately isn’t fair and I’m not dealing with it.” 

Our Take

Our analysis of Lexi’s news articles and life events over the last year shows no signs of controversial or polarizing topics. In our experience, hateful and toxic commentary is most commonly observed on such posts. Lexi, like many influencers and public figures is receiving hate and toxicity from Internet trolls for no reason.

Though Lexi does not elaborate on the specific hateful comments she feels attacked by, we found a whole slew of comments within the last 30 days that express a variety of hate and overt sexuality that could be concerning to the public figure.
